No more paci!!

before i talk about the MONUMENTAL weekend in the bass household, i have to touch briefly on this little thing right here:

she's officially a year old.
i have the "my baby" app, and on her birthday i received a notification that said i would no longer be receiving the "my baby" weekly updates, because i have a "toddler" now.
a toddler and according to this same app...a preschooler.
heaven, help me.
this little girl has been sick, sick, sick.
that's why i didn't blog on her birthday...this past saturday was the first day in 10 days that she has been "herself."
she had the roseola virus...which isn't really that awful of a virus, except it makes you feel crummy...you just want to be held...you have a really high fever..you don't want to eat or drink and you especially DON'T want to celebrate on your birthday.
she then caught croup...and had a horrible diaper rash because she has not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR top teeth coming in. poor girl, only has 2 bottom teeth...and now all of a sudden she has 4 coming in. and to top it all off, she had to have her vaccinations... FOUR of those as well.
but...we did manage to get some stats the last time we were in...
she weighs 19.2 pounds...this is in the 19th percentile
she is 29.2 inches tall...this is the 55th percentile
little girl wants to be turned around in her carseat so badly...but she just has to wait...
she has to be at least 20 pounds.
and now that little emerson is back to her normal self...
she is just the most curious thing ever...
trying to walk, loves music, eats everything in the world...
when she isn't feeling bad she is just the happiest little thing.
we are completely blessed.

and we were so blessed this weekend...
daddy took friday off so we were able to spend 3 FULL days with him!!
eloise is quite obsessed with daddy, and wants to do everything he does...
everything.

here he is on saturday morning showing eloise how to scramble eggs...
she is quite the chef..
and if daddy is the one teaching her..you better believe she is listening!!
the girls even have a new playhouse in the back, that they have become quite fond of...
i can't help the fact that i have a child who constantly takes off her clothes...
i'm raising a nudist.
so..back to the title of this post..
my friend, jodee, just had her 2nd son on Thursday.
her oldest son, Carson, is Eloise's bff.
For a while now I've been telling Eloise that when Cooper was born, it would be nice of her to give him all of her pacis.
the paci thing went on too long, i know... BUT, it was extremely hard for Eloise to understand why she couldn't have a paci, and emerson could. so...for some time now Eloise has only had a paci during naptime and bed.
anyways...I told Eloise that Carson gave Emerson all his pacis when she was born, because she is a baby...and she should do the same thing...
On Thursday, I had lunch with the girls outside, and I really hit this subject hard with her...
Before she went to bed on Thursday night, I told her we were going to go meet Cooper in the morning. She looked up at me and said, "Eloise, NO paci to Cooper!"
I then told her she was a sweet girl, and she needed to be nice.
On Friday morning, she woke up and the first thing she said was, "I give Cooper, Eloise's pacis."
Whew...ok...so I had to get her to the hospital soon!
Walt and I got the girls dressed, we talked to Eloise about how she could go and pick out a BIG Mickey toy and we were on our way.
Oh my goodness...it was soo sweet...
she handed Cooper her pacis, and placed them in his blanket...she wanted to place them in her mouth. And she was so confident about it.
(of course, walt and i both, took a paci and quickly put it in our pocket.)
So we made a quick trip to Sam's and let her eat all of the samples..
(yes, I know they look like they are ready for the 4th of July...but I figured you can show your American pride ANYTIME of year)
and then Eloise and I made a special trip into Toys R Us.
I kept praising her, telling her how proud I was of her for giving Cooper her pacis...
she went straight for the Mickeys...and this is what she picked..
a Mickey RV Camper...
and Eloise and Emerson have played with this toy ALL weekend...
and that was it.
she has made a little fuss going to bed, but it's over in under 2 minutes.
So...walt and I have just bragged and bragged on her.

We made today,
Sunday Funday.
We walked with the girls to get lunch...
complete with chicken nuggets and fries...
and then we went to the park for a rather long swinging session.
it's been great.
both girls feeling well, daddy at home.
it truly was a perfect, monumental weekend.
Walt and I said the next thing we have to tackle is the crib...
who knows when we will do that!??!!

and a couple weeks ago, during emerson's birthday weekend, my brother and sister in law revealed the gender of their sweet new baby.
I couldn't post at the time about it because they still had people that they needed to tell.
They wouldn't let us know, until the could tell us in person.
the pictures are dark, but you can see how precious the idea was...and I was so excited to find out.
They brought in a big box, and let Eloise open it up....
here she goes...we were all waiting in suspense.
aunt lauren had to help...
and what do i see...
BLUE balloons??
YAY!! Walt is SO happy that he gets another nephew!!
We can't wait to welcome our sweet nephew into the world in September!
Eloise loved the balloons...
and I so appreciate spencer and lauren letting her take part in the reveal!

Lobie Girl

I call Emerson my "lovie girl" and Eloise has picked up on that. Every morning she will run into Emerson's room and say, "good morning, lobie girl!" I LOBE it! When she talks to her, she calls her, her lobie girl.
Well, this weekend, we celebrated our lobie girl's birthday. She turns one tomorrow....and let me tell you, I have been an emotional nutcase. I think I wasn't as emotional with Eloise last year because I knew that I had another baby on the way. But this year...I've been crying NUMEROUS times a day since Wednesday of last week.
Like, I've even called up Walt and told him that he needed to be cautious with what he says to me because the littlest thing could throw me into an emotional hissy fit.
So...Saturday we celebrated Emerson's birthday.
Her theme was
She's the Apple of Our Eye
it was quite the easy theme to come up with creative ideas.
Apples, right?
and I decided to go with the colors of light green, light pink, and light purple.
It was perfect.
We had great family and friends that came,
we passed out mini apple pies,
we had all kinds of apple food
and I had so much fun with the decor.
Also, I could not have gotten it all done if I hadn't had my sister and mother there helping.
Poco has now gained the title of my assistant, as she always gives up her time to help me get everything together...
and my mother was a big help because she kept the girls pre-occupied while Poco and I ran around like chickens with our heads cut off!!
So, this post is going to have lots of pics...
pictures from the photo shoot I did of our lobie girl, and pictures from her birthday party.
