Little Info...Here and There

So... Walt and I have back to back weddings coming up...and we couldn't be more excited! Our favorite "travel couple" is getting married next weekend and then Walt's younger brother is getting married the weekend after that. So with all the "wedding festivities" upon us... I came across this survey and figured it would only be appropriate if I filled it out. If you're up for it... I would love to hear all about your wedding also!

1) Did you have a traditional Proposal? Yes, I did. I got engaged on May 3, 2005 and Walt's proposal was PERFECT! Three weeks prior to the proposal my music teacher asked me if my kids could perform " You are my Sunshine", singing it to me for Teacher Appreciation Week. I agreed, but asked if the rest of third grade would be singing it also (and they would). So for 3 weeks my kids practiced this song that would be "video taped and played on morning announcements" (so they thought.) Well the big day came, and of course the night before I had gone to a Mavericks game, so I woke up and just threw on jeans, put my hair in a pony tail and went to school ( I did not look cute). Around 1:30 that day my assistant principal came in because she wanted to "observe my class" (really Walt had showed up and they wanted to keep me occupied.) Well then at 2:15 all of third grade went into the cafeteria to do their production. All the classes went, and my kids were last. They had me up on stage, and they did their song and dance and I was just crying, because they are so precious. Then they all sat down and starting staring at me, and I looked to the left and there was Walt. He asked me to marry him and of course I said, "yes." My kids starting going crazy... and then I looked out in the audience and my mom, my sisters, his mom, and his grandmother were all there. We then went back to the classroom where the kids welcomed us with bells, bubbles and confetti! After that, we had a nice engagement dinner at The Mansion at Turtle Creek. Walt did great..he knew how important my kids are to me, so he incorporated them as much as he could.

2) When was your wedding day? June 3, 2006
3)What day of the week was it? Saturday evening at 7:30
Took all day for my hair to get done....beautiful I know!
And to get my toes done!! there's my something blue!

4) Church/court/other? We got married in the church that I grew up in....Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church
5) What song played while the bride walked down the aisle? Trumpet Voluntary, I liked it much better than the Wedding March.
6) How many in your wedding party? 8 bridesmaids, 8 groomsmen, 4 houseparty, 3 ushers, 1 flowergirl, and 1 ring bearer
7) How many guests were invited to your wedding? About 500

8) How long were you engaged? 13 months to the day
9) Who did you hire as your photographer/videographer? Living in the small town that I live in our choices were VERY limited...but we chose the best man for the job...Mr. Ronny Barker
10) Did you have a DJ or a band? We had a DJ...Mike Glimore
11) Did your father walk you down the aisle? Nope... my amazing mother and Poppy did...and I wouldn't have had it any other way. My mom even did the "mother/daughter" dance with me.
12) What color were the bridesmaid dresses & groomsmen vests? Black tea length dresses for the girls, and standard black tuxes for the boys
Some of my girls being silly in their dresses before the wedding

13) Who was your Maid Of Honor/Best Man? My maid of honor was my best friend Katie Schuchardt-Hill. Walt's best man was his brother, Preston.
14) Did you have a bridal shower? Of course! I had 6 of them!!

15) What type of limo did you get? No limo for us.... you can get to any location in Mt. Pleasant in 5 minutes, so we figured...What's the point? I mean we DID spend our honeymoon night at the Holiday Inn... so fabulous, but hey...living in a small town, you have to be happy with what you get. So our "limo driver" was no one other than Mr. Preston Bass.

16) Where did you go for your Bachelorette/Bachelor Party? My best friend planned a great party! It started off at the Adolphus where we played games, and had great food, then we ventured out to a bar and played some hilarious games.

17) The night before your wedding, did you sleep? I slept at the Holiday Inn with some of my bridesmaids, and my sweet Gracie Mae.
18) What type of wedding gown/tux did you two wear? I wore a princess line satin gown that featured a strapless bodice, embellished with pearls, re-embroidered lace and sequins and a gracefully draped skirt that entailed a semi -cathedral train. (You can bet that I just copied that from that write up that we had in the newspaper!) Walt's tux was just the traditional black tux...he didn't need anything fancy...he looks HOT in anything!

19) Did you have a veil? Of course....I had a beautiful veil with Swarovski crystals that enhanced my gown.
20) What was the funniest moment from your wedding? Oh gosh...I don't even have to think about this one. Our vows. During our vows Walt was so nervous. The preacher asked Walt to repeat after him, "With this ring, I thee wed." Walt proceeded to stumble over his words and say, "With this wing, I de wed." Everyone started laughing, I couldn't hold it in either.
21) How was the weather? Perfect! Blue skies, smiling at me!!
22) Did your bridal party deck out the get away car? Thank goodness...NO! We had to drive to Dallas at 8:00 the next morning and they knew we needed our car to be in tip-top condition.

23) Where did you go on your Honeymoon? Our honeymoon was nothing short of amazing. We spent three weeks on our honeymoon and went to Bangkok, Thailand, Cambodia, and Phukett, Thailand. Let me tell you.....this honeymoon was incredible...I had to include pics!

24) What was your favorite part of your wedding day? The reception....our reception started at 8:30 and Walt and I SNUCK out at 2:30 because people were still going strong, and we knew we had to get up early. The dancing was CRAZY! Just the way we liked it!!

25) How long have you been married? 2 years, 9 months, 1 week and 4 days... thanks to DaisyPath at the bottom of my screen.
26) Rings? My rings are gorgeous. My center diamond has been passed down in Walt's family for three generations. It was his dad's mom's, then his mother's and now mine. I have two diamond wedding bands also. Walt's band is simple, white gold.

27) Did the bride change her name? Of COURSE! I have been at the bottom of the alphabet my whole life... I couldn't WAIT to move up! And I love being called Mrs. Bass every day at school.
28) Any anniversary traditions? Well... our first anniversary we were in Greece, on our second anniversary Walt was in Alaska and now on our third anniversary we will be in Europe together...so I guess you could say we TRAVEL. (What? The Bass Family travels? No way, uh uh!)

29) Anything special about the day/time of year you were married? We knew we wanted to get married during the summer, after school was out. This was the first weekend after school was out and we had to jump on that date...we couldn't wait to be husband and wife!
30) Words of wisdom? Love like there is no tomorrow. Be thankful for what you have....cherish every moment. Believe me... for me and Walt, we've been apart A LOT during our first 3 years, and I've realized that I would much rather have him with me every day for the rest of my life, then spend one day without him. We've overcome a huge obstacle...and now...I finally have my husband all to myself!
