Falling into FUN!!

I love doing experiments.
I love crafting, I love having two toddlers where I have a valid excuse to go and buy things where we can get messy.
Pinterest is all the rage...and I have tried out some experiements on pinterest...and like anything
Some work wonders and others fail.
So...here are some experiments that we have enjoyed lately.
We went outside Thursday morning around 8, and did not go back inside for a snack break until 10:30...I would say that these 2 fun things were, in fact, a success.
I set up one tray and covered the bottom with baking soda, then with old paint bottles, I put vinegar in it and mixed them with food coloring.
I let the girls squirt out the vinegar and they had so much fun watching the fizz.
This was Emerson's favorite.  She was enthralled for about 45 minutes...which is an extremely long time for an 18 month old.
If you look closely at her face she was almost through with saying the word, "WOW!"

The next activity is "cloud dough"
and let me tell you, this has to be better than a sand pit...it smells good, and it hardly cost anything.
You mix 8 cups of flour with 1 cup of baby oil (we used baby oil, but you can use cooking oil, if you are afraid your child will try to eat it.)
This stuff makes amazing shapes, and smells so good.

Eloise was so proud of her "cupcakes" that she could make.  This was Eloise's favorite. She asked to play with this again after nap, and even the next day.  She stayed in her "cloud dough" pit from 8:30-10:30... very successful.
And I had to include this in our post, because this is the first year that the girls have really been able to get into all things fall.
We went to the pumpkin patch on Saturday and brought home a pumpkin to carve.  Eloise was super excited.  I drew out several faces for her, and lucky for us, she picked the easiest one to carve on the pumpkin.  They were so excited to do this with their daddy.  I think daddy was just as happy.

My child does not like to get things on her.
She insisted on wearing her swim goggles and taking off her shirt...
I figued it was a win win situation...I wouldn't have a nasty outfit to clean up.
Here we are about to draw the face on the pumpkin.
 and the carving begins!

 So proud of her pumpkin.
We asked her what she wanted to name her pumpkin and she said "poppy."
(She has a super poppy, her great grandfather) So...Poppy the Pumpkin now graces our doorstep.
Even Emerson was so proud of the pumpkin...although she really didn't care to help.
And we ALWAYS start off our Monday mornings with muffins.  We make enough muffins to last the girls until Friday... then Saturdays they are able to have doughnuts with daddy.
Eloise LOVES to help momma with muffins, but today, Emerson decided that she wanted to get in on the action. She is getting so big, and talking up a storm.

And the last experiment in this post...
It didn't hold Eloise's attention as long as the cloud dough, but oh my goodness...why didn't I know this before.
This is another pinterest find.
It's 1 1/2 cups of clear glue (we used Elmer's) and 1 1/2 cups of Liquid Startch (found in the laundry aisle)...you mix these two together, I then separated it into three bowls, added food coloring and we literally had slime.
It was AWESOME! and I cleaned the entire kitchen while they were preoccupied...like deep cleaned it.
Emerson liked watching Eloise better...because she is way too much of a girly-girl and can't stand being dirty.
 "Here, Emmy C, take some"

 She was loving her slime!!
She was determined to make a jump rope... I think she did pretty good!!

and of course... our favorite activity of all, is always reading.
I hope it always stays this way...and they stay this close.
Best Friends.
Do you have any activities that you just love??

Wedding party animals!!

Seems like we never attend weddings anymore. I guess maybe it is because most of our friends are married...but, this wedding experience was quite far one of the best that I have ever had...
maybe because I had two girls tearing up the dance floor.
We did go to a wedding last year, but both girls were still young, and Eloise hadn't quite figured out how to get her groove on...and now that she has, little sister, emerson, has followed in her footsteps.
It was a beautiful wedding celebrating the marriage of two wonderful friends...
and now we can't wait to see what God has in store for their life together.
But, before the wedding pictures...just had to throw in two pictures of my sweet girls..
Here they are showing each other some love...so sweet to each other...99% of the time
and then just a picture for the world to see what I live with.
This pretty much sums up my night, every night...
An Elton John wanna-be and a bunny, butterfly winged-ballerina.
I think I might be the only semi-sane one amongst my family...
but that's ok.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
So, Saturday was such a fun wedding!
Walt was in the wedding...so this meant that since the wedding started at 5, and we live about 45min away from the church, I had to start getting ready at 1, to have everyone ready and there by 5.
I am not joking...
mainly because I was semi-paranoid that I was going to forget something, and Walt was in the wedding.
Here are my two little loveys ready for the wedding...
If you look at their dresses, their are two love birds on the right...
and off we went...until I realized that we were almost out of gas, and there was not a gas station in sight. Seriously? How could this happen to me? I mean I started getting ready at 1:00, and we were going to be late for the wedding.
Thankfully, Eloise understands what it means to RUN, and we high tailed it into the wedding in the nick of time.
But then, I didn't even get to watch the wedding because Emerson is 18 months, and she would much rather be walking around... so, Walt sat with Eloise and I walked around the church with Emerson.
But, that's ok.
The reception was held at the Houstonian...
and my girls took over the dance floor.
They didn't even eat dinner...
all they wanted to do was DANCE.
Must take after their momma!
My girls with the two little flower girls...
They all had so much fun...
girl talk right there!!
She made my almost have a heart attack about 5 times...
she keep walking over to the cake because she wanted to touch the flowers..
I had this mental picture in my mind of the cake being ruined because of the littlest guest.
watching the bride and groom take their first dance
 loving her life!
 strike a pose
 this was around 9:00.
We thought they were going to go to sleep and we were about to leave...
 we were wrong!
They fooled us...
just a little cat nap.
Eloise dancing with her daddy...
he's waited two years to have his girl dance with him at a wedding
Em decided she needed to sleep a little longer
One of our friends dancing with Eloise
and then they brought out the costumes...
and man, did Eloise love the costumes.
she LOVED them.
let the fun times begin!
we might have kids...but we still got it!!

 me with the beautiful bride
 Whoa...costume change
 Look who woke up!!
And she was ready to party!!
kisses for her one true love!!
And how long did we end up staying?
My children were rock stars! They partied until 11:00!!
and woke up at 7:45 the next morning, but HEY...it was fun..and we had a blast!
and here are some videos...
they are pretty shaky because they were taken on my camera..
at least you can see that I have a dancing machine on my hands.
Both girls were so much fun, and I am hoping that we have another wedding to attend in a year or so, that way Emerson will be rocking the moves just like her sister!
Congratulations to the bride and groom...
we love you both so much.

pumpkin painting

So, thank goodness it is fall.
And this weekend, we actually received falling temperatures!!
We went home for the weekend, and on Saturday, it was a chilly 48 degrees!!
But...now we are back in Houston...
and yep..pumpkin shirts, but we are still wearing our shorts.
So, today the girls and I went to HEB to gather up some pumpkins for painting.
We are going to the pumpkin patch...but these pumpkins were just for painting...no forced pictures, just pure fun.
The girls couldn't wait to get home and begin...and believe me...I put them in clothes that could get ruined...because my girls LOVE art...and they like to get MESSY!!
This isn't a great picture of Emerson, but you can tell on Eloise's face, just how excited she is!
 Blurry...but..OH..the excitement is building...
My big girl, carrying her own pumpkin.
 So...after setting up the paint..
they began..
and literally, the rest of the pictures are just of them painting...
 and painting...
but...obviously, it kept them busy!!
Heck, I might go back and get some more pumpkins...the weather is so nice, and they thoroughly enjoy it!
 such little artists..
she was so proud of her art work!
 Sweet sisters, painting together!
This is the first time Emerson has actually "participated" and not tried to EAT everything!
She's growing up!

 Such concentration
 Cheesing for the camera!
 What a great fall activity...
and their pumpkins turned out precious!!
I love fall...we have a lot more in store for the fall season!!
