Let's just talk about my day.....

I guess the saying is true....bad things come in 3's. First, Walt and I get some bad news about an issue that we have really been praying about. Second, my computer is overtaken by a virus and I ended up spending close to 350 dollars for repair. Now for the third....just let me paint the picture for you:

I get to work around 6:55 in the morning. I'm always the 2nd or 3rd car there, ALWAYS. Today I was having some trouble figuring out what to wear and since I vowed to keep my closet clean all week... see this post...I was a little later than usual. Obviously not too late though, because as I was driving I thought to myself, "Ah... I deserve a grande-non-fat-decaf-peppermint twist mocha from Starbucks this morning. I've made it 26 days without my husband, AND I have cash, so that makes it even better." Well.. I end up pulling into the school parking lot at 7:10ish. This is NOT late by any means. In the front of the school there are 6 parking spaces, well I pulled into the last parking space. And by pulled in I mean I was so close to the 5th car..I almost hit it. So, I walk inside, frustrated because my mocha was DI-SGUST-TING! My kiddos come in around 7:45 and I thought, "Heck yeah, we have an assembly today! I only have my first class for 45 minutes... SCORE!" Class goes well, the assembly is great, I drop off my kiddos and it is my planning time. Well... another teacher needed me to step in here class for a minute, no biggie. In the meantime, the office comes over the loud speaker, "If you are a PARENT and your car is parked in the circle drive PLEASE move it." (Our 3rd graders were performing their Veteran's Day program, so parents were there.) I, of course, thought nothing of it. Well.. about 5 minutes later my sweet teacher's assistant Megan comes and tells me that the office has paged me about 4 times. I walk down to the Principal's office thinking, (clearly I did A LOT of thinking today) Oh Gosh, what did I do wrong?" (Take note.. I'm 26... still scared about the Principal's office.) My principal shuts the door behind me... WHOA... this is bad. "Mrs. Bass," she begins... my mind at this time is going to Walt. "Oh my goodness what happened to him," I am thinking. "Your car was hit by the school bus."
I immediately start crying. Remember when I said the secretary came over the intercom and told the parents to MOVE their car if it was in the circle drive??? Well, the school bus driver HIT my CAR because if he didn't hit my car he would have hit 4 other PARENTS' cars! And to make matters even better, he wasn't even going to report this hit and run accident. THANK GOODNESS one of my 4th grade parents saw this happen and ran in to tell the principal.
All I could think to myself was, (excuse me), DAMN Starbucks! If I hadn't stopped to get the nasty drink, I would have NOT been the last person in line and I would NOT have gotten hit by that bus. By the time I went out to see my car, I was shaking and crying and I didn't know what to do because I don't handle this stuff. I filed a police report and the kindergarten windows look out to the parking lot and ALL the kindergarten's thought I was getting arrested. Of course, my sweet husband didn't get mad, he just assured me that everything was going to be alright. "Mer, you weren't in the car, things are fine." So... I came home, starting cooking some food for the party Saturday night and opened up a bottle of wine. I think the wine has been the best part of my day... and to make matter's worse.. this IS WALT'S BIRTHDAY! Hopefully I am in the clear for awhile... I've had enough bad things happen to me to last me at least until 2009.

YES....THAT'S A HOLE IN MY CAR! A HOLE! IT'S A LOT BIGGER THAN IT LOOKS!
Oh goodness... my pretty car... I guess now it needs some plastic surgery. My poor baby!

A Tribute to MY husband!

It isn't officially Walt's birthday here in USA; however, it IS Walt's birthday in Indonesia, (his birthday is November 11th)and, I figured I should post a blog about him when he can read it... this is HIS birthday right?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WALTER!!

Today my sweet husband turned 27! Oh-MA-GASH did you say TWENTY-SEVEN?!?! It's hard to believe that the very first birthday Walt and I spent together I had just turned NINETEEN and Walt was turning the BIG 2-0! I remember thinking we were SOOOOO old back then. Seven years later who would have ever thought that I would STILL be celebrating birthdays with that hunk that I saw out at Beta/Theta float?? The hunk that is located right here:
Yes... I fell in love with that man right there... the one wearing the bear suit..the one with the horrible, yet oh so familiar East Texas accent and I've been the luckiest girl in the world ever since he came all the way up from Daingerfield to Waco and got his first speeding ticket just to see me!
I hate the fact that I can't celebrate your birthday with you today Walt. You have given me so many reasons to celebrate and be completely happy.

Whether it was watching your infamous dance moves

Being right there when you decided to do something spontaneous

Being the lucky one that was able to see all of God's glory with you

Experiencing your many different ways that you "grill"

Taking those short "naps" with you

Wondering how in the world it could ever take someone 1 hr. to weed-ed

Making you wear make-up

Watching you love on your "daughter"

Drinking wine with you

or living in forever with you
You Walt are an amazing man. You have always been there to support me, (and my shopping habits) comfort me and you are an incredible gift of God. I am truly thankful for all the many ways that you have blessed my life. You are the greatest gift that I have ever been given and I hope that I bring you as much happiness as you bring me. I love Walt and I hope that you take some time out to celebrate YOU today....because you have touched so many people's lives. You are a real blessing. Thank you for being the head of our household and for always making my days better than the one before it. I love you more today than yesterday....but not as much as tomorrow. HAPPY BIRTHDAY
**stay tuned for pics from the murder mystery party we are hosting on saturday in honor of walter's birthday! 26 people over for a dinner.. what was I thinking???

Just a little recap....

In my marriage Walt is definitely the "neater" one. Now I am not "dirty" by any means, I am just "unorganized." I have a serious problem with my closet. I look in my closet and there are tons of clothes, but some mornings I just can't find anything to wear. So, when I put on an outfit and I don't like it....I take it off and throw it on the floor. Why don't I hang it back up, you ask? Because I don't have enough time in the mornings. So... come Friday night I always pick up my clothes. This really annoys Walt....majorly. But, since he has been gone for a month now, I've kind of just really let it go....and by letting "it" go, I mean this:

So...my Sunday is going to be spent picking up my closet and "restoring it" back to it's original form BEFORE Walt left. I figure since he is coming home THURSDAY, I should probably start now. I am going to have to exhibit a little bit of self control all week and actually hang my clothes back on hangers so I am not just re-doing this on Thursday night before he gets home.

On another note....I finally got my computer back. I have nothing on my computer, they had to erase everything, but at least our documents were saved to several CDs. Last weekend my mom came in town for Halloween. On Friday we went shopping, went to a little wine bar, then ordered some sushi. The place where we ordered sushi is kind of comical. The place is called Bill and Ruth's Sub Sandwiches. They serve gyros, chili, subs and SUSHI...but the sushi is AMAZING! We then came home and answered the door for trick or treaters. Gracie was hilarious. I told you in a couple post back that she hates wearing costumes. So when I put the tutu on her she pretended like her back left leg was hurt....so whenever she would walk she would lift up her leg and limp. She was not hurt at all, she is just a drama queen and did not want to wear the costume. Phoebe of course loved her costume and all the people that came to the door.
Saturday morning we sat out on the porch and drank coffee and then went shopping again. We had dinner at KEO an Indian/Cambodian restaurant and then went and had massages, courtesy of Walt. They were great! Thank you Walt! After that we went out with some friends and stayed out until the wee hours of the night. Thank you mom for coming! I love you so much!

Mom and I were shopping and this is what we saw outside one of the stores! SO adorable!

Look closely at the menu... this was the sushi restaurant!

Gracie with her famous leg pose...she really thought I was going to take that off of her!

Miss Phoebe... THE Texas Longhorn!! Hook 'Em!
