HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

So...I'm hardly even a day late, but all I wanted to say was HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANA! My Nana is the most amazing, selfless woman I have ever met. Her unconditional love for her family is admiring and I know she will never read this blog (because she doesn't even have a computer) but I wanted to say Happy Birthday to her! She is the best looking 76 year young lady I've ever known! Love You Nan!

Blog Stalker

Ok.. so I have to admit I am a blog stalker. I am talking about reading people's blogs that I know went to Baylor, but they don't know me. Reading people's blogs that graduated 2,3,4 maybe even 5 years before me in high school....it's bad. I know I am not the only one though. My best friend and college partner in crime, Katie.. she does the same thing. We were having one of our hour long conversations today and we started talking about people's blogs... I mentioned something about someones blog (reminder neither one of us officially "know" this person) and Katie had read the same one!....turns out we stalk the same people! So... I got this survey from someone else's blog.. but I liked it, so I thought I would do it. If you are a blog stalker...more power to you.. I know there are many of you out there! And you are more than welcome to continue to blogstalk me!

Find a Running Partner

Well, I am officially on my third week of traning with Fleet Feet. The program has been really good for me and I am so glad that I decided to join with a friend. We run every Monday and Thursday and then we are supposed to have an honor run on Saturday and a 45-60 minute walk on Sunday working, working out every other day in between except Friday. The program starts out slow so that you get a great basis for running. I honestly like this program and it is great that a friend has been with me. I am accountable to show up and so is she because we are depending on each other. We have endured rain, little sleet, beautiful sun, 20 degree weather and we even joked one day that we were "real runners" because we got our butts out there in the sleet, freezing cold and we didn't quit! Now there are some drawbacks.... 1.) It is a little crowded. Emily and I like to stay at the front of the pack, but so many people are pushing their way up to the front that we have decided we can lag behind just a little. 2.) Every group has the fitness "gurus" We have some people that like to get on to us if we do the littlest thing against the rules. 3.) Then there are the people who don't know how to dress. We have seen all kinds of articles of clothing. Lime green reflector shorts, too short shorts on men, hats that don't fit well on women, shirts that make women buldge out somewhere unflattering, but I guess I can be thankful we haven't seen anything that looks like this while we are running..........................................................................
I know that I am going to reach my goal and for that I am proud of myself. It's already February of the new year, but for those of your that made that resolution to work out... grab a partner and go... it is so much easier and much more fun!

The Little Things

Goodness how it is so great to have my husband home! I think I would speak for anyone in saying that if you are away from someone for 35 days you seem to forget the little things.

  • I love how my husband took the trash out for me on Tuesday
  • How he is my running coach on the days that I don't have a "trained" run
  • How he always loads the dishes and I unload
  • I come home from a long day of work and he has flowers for me
  • He has dinner ready on the days that I run until 7
  • He brought me lunch to my school... and my other teammate
  • We dance in the kitchen because it's fun
  • He gives Gracie baths
  • He does the laundry and I fold the clothes
  • He asks me if I need anything to be ironed
  • He hugs me
  • I hear on a daily basis just how much he loves me
  • He always runs to the grocery store for me so I don't have too
  • He does my errands

I know it is safe to say that I am rather spoiled...but I forget just how much Walt really does do when he is away. He is an honorable, trustworthy husband who does things out of the goodness of his heart just because he loves me. Yes... it is good to have him home. Even Gracie is happy.

2 out of 24...

I don't know what it is about this season of American Idol, but I am hooked. Maybe it's because they are, "the most talented group America has ever seen." I've been obsessively hooked since day 1. Now that we have our top 12 girls and our top 12 boys I can't wait for next week to roll around. Tuesday and Wednesday American Idol have already been programmed into my DVR because I can't miss a week. As I was snooping around at americanidol.com I noticed that 2 out of the 24 contestants are from Tulsa, OK. Don't hate the 918.. sorry you can't be like us. I think this is pretty impressive....

We have contestant number 1...her name is Alaina, she is 16, (is this too young?) is the captain of her pom squad and loves Martina McBride (gag) and Keith Urban.
Then we have contestant number 2. His name is David, he's 25 he likes John Mayer (big plus), Lenny Kravitz and when he was in the 2nd grade his teacher Mrs. Gentry made him sing in the Christmas pageant..(good teacher.)

Now I know I am not originally from Tulsa and even now when most people ask me where I am from I without a doubt say Texas, but as I looked through the bios I couldn't help but get a little excited that Tulsa is represented. I'm down with T-town, don't you know! So, unless these two people really stink... I think I might just have to vote for them at least every week only because I have to represent the 918. (That would be our area code.) Although I do think that David should probably take another picture... I'm not digging the pose at all.... my personal opinion.
Another thing I noticed is that out of all the contestants, THREE, yes ONLY THREE are older than me. I find this semi-depressing in the sense that our next American "Idol" could be someone that isn't even old enough to drink, more less vote.
So.. I guess I am going to have to hold on until next week, I can't wait to see what Simon has to say about their performances. Let's just hope that we don't have another Sanjaya like we did last year. I've got my DVR programmed, and I am ready for the next American Idol... GO TULSA!

The Countdown has BEGUN!

Sorry it's been a while since the last time I wrote. I had a pretty busy week! Well, the countdown is officially on! Walt comes home Friday and I couldn't be happier. I think the term "I've got ants in my pants," is totally appropriate to use at this moment....I'm so excited!!! I just want this week to fly by! I figured the only way the week can fly by is if I keep myself busy, right? Well Monday I have my running class, Tuesday I am getting a crown and a filling (so excited about that one), Wednesday I have a beauty appointment, and Thursday I have another running class. I think I've managed to keep my week full, so that the time will pass. Walt will be leaving Australia on Wednesday and he will then be in-route to the good old U.S. of A!
Everyone around me says that the 5 weeks have flown by, but I just don't see it. In 5 weeks I have managed to attend a bachelorette party in Dallas, manually write 76 report cards, get together 200 invites for Theta Founder's day, watch 5 kids play basketball on the weekend, have 10 girls under the age of 15 spend the night at my house, start a new 9 weeks at school, sing and be in a wedding, watch 6 of my 3rd graders compete in a spelling bee, have 76 penguins brought into my classroom, go out with Brad to sing karaoke, start making my "lifetime change" by joining a running club, get my haircut, attend and put together Theta Founder's Day, have my sister come visit, drink numerous glasses of wine, take my car into the shop, get a new crown, receive a filling on my tooth, and have Valentine Classroom parties. I think it's safe to say that these past 5 weeks have been LONG and it's time for my husband to come home to me!

Are you ready for some football???

No.... actually I wasn't ready for football... in fact, I wasn't even aware of what time the game started. I guess this is what happens when you are alone in a house without any testosterone. I decided that on Sunday I would open up a bottle of Malbec and start watching nothing other than "Steel Magnolias." By the time "Steel Magnolias" was finished the rest of America was already into the 3rd quarter while I was still trying to figure out why Shelby died oh so early. I guess I am the ultimate girl...there was crying, wine drinking, and a little bit of guilt when I realized for the 150th time that Shelby was, in fact, going to die. So now I ask myself... who really cares about Brady or Eli? And if I had to choose.. I would pick Brady's looks, Eli's inner-self, and Jackson (from Steel Magnolias) personality. I think I need some male testosterone in my life soon.. 24 days down.. 11 more to go...but hey.. who's counting?
