Dear Blog,

Today I have a lot of things to tell you. First off, I want to start by saying thank you. Thank you for being the "thing" that I turn to when I wanted to express my happiness, sadness and frustration. You have been there for me through everything. Really.... whether it was complaining about my haircut, talking about my husband or discussing some really fun weekend, you have always been that outlet. I remember when our relationship first started and I really didn't know what to say. I started out as a shy "blogger" and now I have developed into someone that expresses all of my feelings. You, dear blog, have done that for me. I even think I have acquired better writing skills because of you, which of course, only helps out my precious 4th grade students. Blog, today I want to tell you thank you and of course I want to tell you "Happy Birthday," because when I set out to have my own blog a year ago....I never thought it would mean this much to me. Happy Birthday Blog....you've given me so much in such a short time. Here's to many more years to come, and don't worry....I've got the special "birthday plate" out on display for you AND I had a couple of drinks in honor of you tonight.

Thankful Thursday

So I've decided that if I can remember, every Thursday I am going to write one thing that I am thankful for. I was blog stalking and saw this on another blog and really liked it. Today I am writing because I am thankful for PRAYER. Oh my goodness, I can't even begin to tell you how much prayer has done for me. I have literally been on my knees lately praying for so many things. My husbands safety, sweet Mason who has been diagnosed with leukemia, expanding our family, the health of all my family members, my sister's new job, my children at school....the list goes on. The things that I am praying for are located on different points on the emotion scale. Sometimes I am angry, other times I am sad...happy, confused, thankful. So many times however, I have turned to the book of Psalm...and I have found that no matter what emotion I am experiencing the result of telling God what was on my mind and my heart ended in an incredible peace. The power of prayer can do many things and for this I am truly thankful.
Psalm 27: 13-14 "Yet I am confident that I will see the Lord's goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord."

I thought we were moving to Mexico.....

So apparently one of my kids told all of his classmates that his dad said if Obama won, they were packing up and moving to Mexico. This morning, of all mornings, he was late to school. My kids kept telling me that he was moving, and he wasn't coming back to school today. I just told them to sit down, he would be here. Well... at 8:10 when he rolled in the whole class was shocked to see him. When I asked him why he told everyone he was moving he said, "Well...my dad said we were moving to Mexico if Obama won." He then proceeded to tell me that he was upset Obama won, but so glad they weren't moving to Mexico because he didn't know any Spanish.

I just kept my laughter inside... at 10 years old they still don't know when dad is joking...and I think it is adorable.

Happy Birthday DAD!!

Today is an important day, yes.. I know today is Election Day; however, it is also my father in law's birthday! Daddy Bass is one of the most important men in my life! He has been such a wonderful example to Walt throughout his life, and for this I am truly grateful because I ended up with an amazing husband. Thank you Dad for your unending love, your warm smile, great advice and for your laughter. Walt and I love you so much and it truly is an honor to be able to call you dad. You are the hardest working man we know and we are blessed to have such an amazing father!

Hopefully by Monday...

My computer tower has been in the hospital for more than a week. I was originally told that I would be getting my computer back Friday....then Sunday and now today they told me they really don't know when it will get fixed. I can't post any pictures, because I want my pictures from the weekend to be on my computer that is at Best Buy! Hopefully by tomorrow I will be able to post tons of pictures from the weekend....mom came into town and MAN, did we have FUN! So... until then, keep your fingers crossed that I will have my computer by Monday.
